Our story

We didn't choose this lifestyle. We grew into it.

Growing up, our homes were full of things we'd never have now. Microwave meals, dial soap, air fresheners on every surface, fast food twice a week. Nobody thought twice about any of it -- it was just normal. We still can't walk past a fast food restaurant or catch a whiff of synthetic air freshener without feeling it physically.

The shift happened gradually. First it was food. Then cleaning products. Then we started renovating a house and realised we had no idea what was in the flooring adhesive, the paint, the underlay. We started reading ingredient lists and couldn't stop.

Between us we have spent decades researching what goes into the products we use every day. We are both researchers by training -- which means we know how to read a study, spot a greenwash claim, and cross-reference a certification number against an actual register rather than taking a brand's word for it.

Homegreeny exists because we couldn't find a single UK resource that had done this work already. The American market has plenty of non-toxic home guides. The UK market has almost nothing -- fragmented suppliers, rampant greenwashing, and no central place to find what actually ships to Britain at a sensible price.

So we built it ourselves.

We only link to things we believe in. Some links earn us a small affiliate commission -- it never changes what gets listed here. We will never run ads. We will never take payment to promote a product. We will never recommend something we wouldn't use ourselves.

Not everything on this site is something we have personally bought and used. Where that's the case, we say so clearly. The same research criteria applies to everything regardless.
